Backstage with Ghd | Paris

When thinking about Fashion Month, the first thing which comes in mind might be fashion! But when taking a closer look at the runways, you’ll see that it’s all about the total styling which means fashion, beauty and hair! And what would be a trendy hairstyling without some ghd magic? Therefore, I was excited to get an exclusive sneakpeak of what ghd is doing behind the scenes for a runway show! The program started with visiting backstage before seeing the final hairstyles at the Each X Other AW18 runway. I hope you like the impressions, xx Leonie <3

My day with ghd started with a hair styling. I was lucky to have a hairstylist for a few days during Paris Fashion Week and for my day with ghd, I asked him to create something special with the new ghd gold® Styler. The new gold Styler is proven to create sleeker, smoother and healthier looking hair. The new device features a dual-zone technology which helps controlling the optimum styling temperature of 185ºC from root to tip. What Alex and I love (yes, Alex is always involved in doing my hair because he is a natural ;)) is the automatic sleep mode which shuts down the styler after 30 minutes of non-use which is amazing because we always leave the house wondering whether we are 100% sure we switched it of! 😉 The new ghd gold®styler can create straight hair and also curls and we decided that some loose ways and a very cool braid might be perfect for the show and I was super happy when I saw the final result. Before heading backstage we stopped on our way to take some pictures of the hairstyle!

The Each X Other AW18 show took place at the Hotel National Des Arts et Metiers. We arrived two hours early to get a sneak peak of what’s happening behind the scenes. Before the show everything gets a little crazy because all the models need to be stlyed really quickly to have the perfect outfit, make-up and hairstyling for the show. Therefore, you’ll often find a lot of people backstage working in a very fast pace. We tried to capture some moments for you without distracting everyone from work. 😉 For the Each X Other AW18 show, hair stylist Eugene Souleiman worked with natural textures to create a typically androgynous look which reflects the edgy style of the Parisian brand where Art meets Fashion. This is a statement of what he wanted to express with the styling:

“The clothes are very edgy and tough, there’s a strong attitude reflective of life today. It’s current and contemporary and the hair look reflects that.” – “This look isn’t about styling in the traditional sense of the word, it’s about using product and tools to add texture. It’s wet “just out of the shower” hair. It’s raw, sensual, tough and youthful.”

These are the products and steps involved to get the sleek look:

  1. Detangle hair and prep it with Wella Professionals Elements Leave in Conditioner.
  2. Use EIMI Extra Volume Mousse in abundance with handfuls repeatedly patted into the hair, then lightly scrunched to create natural movement.
  3. Lightly dry hair with the ghd Air Hairdryer.
  4. Add final movement and texture using ghd Curve classic curl tong.

    Alles Liebe,

The styling of a fashion show is equally important as all the other elements . The clothes , the lights , the models , the press , ….all make up what we love .
